What’s Happening at Barnes:
The Garden Center is closed for 2022. We will re-open in March, 2023. If you need assistance during our “off-season”, please call the wholesale business office. See you next spring!
We are pleased to be able to provide locally grown plants to our community. Choose from our selection of annuals, vegetables, perennials, trees, shrubs, hanging baskets or planters. We have an indoor shopping area with assorted empty containers, gardening supplies and many other hardgoods to choose from. Visit Barnes Greenhouses soon and “Let’s Get Something Growin’!”
Plan for our 2023 SEED SWAP
Our 2022 swap was held in March this year, but plan for 2023! Bring any seeds you’ve saved and trade with fellow gardeners. We provide the space and envelopes for sharing. Pre-registration is required. Please call 359-2600 or email email@example.com to sign up.
BARE ROOT FRUIT WEEKEND – Held annually in late March
This is the weekend we sell our fruit trees and fruit plants in the bareroot stage. It’s a great time for you to save money on high quality products. We have a limited number of trees available. Trees are ordered in JULY the summer prior. Call 359-2600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request trees.
2022 EVERGREEN WORKSHOPS
We are so excited to be offering Christmas “Make and Take” workshops again this year! We hope you’ll mark your calendar now and join us for one of our FUN events. Allow an hour to complete the project. Space is limited and pre-registration is required for the classes so pick your class and your date and contact us today!
THE EVERGREEN CENTERPIECE CLASS will be held in the Garden Center on Thursday evening, December 8, at 5:30 p.m. and repeated Sunday afternoon, December 11, at 2:00 p.m. The centerpiece class fee is $50 and includes all your supplies.
You’ll start with a 16″ noble fir bowl. The base container will be a shallow plastic dish with floral foam that can be dropped into another bowl or tray if desired. We have ordered a beautiful variety of different LIVE greens, winterberry, magnolia leaves, pine cones, red twig dogwood stems, as well as faux birch twigs and ribbon. After adding all the “extras”, you’ll have a beautiful live arrangement that can be used on a tabletop inside or out!
THE EVERGREEN PORCH POT CLASS will be held in the Garden Center on Sunday afternoon, December 11, at 4:00 p.m. The porch pot class fee is $65 and includes all your supplies.
This arrangement will be designed to stand alone on the ground, possibly at your door. Starting with a 14″ plastic patio planter and soil, you’ll arrange larger pieces of greens and all the extras in the pot. We have ordered a beautiful variety of different LIVE greens, winterberry, magnolia leaves, pine cones, red twig dogwood stems, birch poles as well as faux birch twigs and ribbon. After adding all your “extras” you’ll have a gorgeous Christmas planter to enjoy throughout the holidays.
For BOTH classes, you can even be extra creative by bringing in additional items of your own to add; candle sticks, lanterns, ornaments, lights or ?? (It might also be helpful to bring garden gloves and hand pruners if you have any available.)
We have ordered a limited supply of materials so pre-registration is required.
Please call 359-2600 or email email@example.com to save your spot. Due to the cost and expiry time of the materials, we will take a $15 deposit (which will then be removed from the overall class cost) to hold your reservation and supplies. This can be paid by check or credit card when you pre-register.
We hope to see you here for one of our Evergreen Workshops!
